Dermapen (Therapy with microneedles)

Dermaroler or dermapen are medical devices used for creating micro injuries in skin with microneedles of various lengths (0.5- 2.0 mm) mainly for esthetic reasons. This treatment is new and minimally invasive technique for naturally risings collagen level in the skin and is also called collagen induction therapy. Dermaroller is mainly used for the treatment of acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and alopecia.

The needles penetrate into the middle layer of the skin where they cause microinjuries thus stimulating the production of new collagen and blood vessels in deeper parts of the skin. Prior the procedure anesthetic cream applied in order for treatment to be minimally uncomfortable or painful for patient.

After a treatment with dermaroller or dermapen a mesotherapy, hyaluronic acid or PRP serum (platelet rich plasma) can be applied immediately. Following these procedures, redness or skin sensitivity of varying intensity can persist up to 48 hours.

It’s strongly advised to not put a makeup after the treatment next 12 hours and to avoid direct sun for 3 months. For better results 3 to 4 treatments in intervals of 4-6 weeks are needed. First visible results are seen after 7 to 10 days although the full effect takes a while, because the body needs time to create new collagen.

Indications for collagen induction therapy are:

  • wrinkles deep or shallow
  • scars – from acne, enlarged pores, scars formed after burns or surgical interventions
  • acne
  • stretch marks
  • sun damaged skin
  • Hyperpigmentation (from acne), hormonal imbalance skin stains (melisma) or UV rays skin damage stains
